3-Day Gorilla Trekking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest | Mj Safaris Uganda

Arrival

Day 1: Today you will be picked by our guide from your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe and start your gorilla trip

Early breakfast and after your guide will pick you and you embark on your journey to the famous Bwindi impenetrable forest National park, a journey that crosses the equator line, takes you through western Uganda where you will drive by lake Mburo national park with zebras and the unique Impalas, the famous Ankole long-horned cattle, lunch will be in Mbarara town which is the biggest in western Uganda. Bwindi park is mostly famous for the rare mountain gorillas and the drive to the park is incredibly scenic, passing through various local villages and the lush green countryside & hills which characterize so much of southwestern Uganda. Once you are in the forest, it is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa and the diversity of species is a feature of the park. It provides habitat for some 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species. Bwindi is amongst the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns. Lunch on the way Agip motel Mbarara.

Day 2: Breakfast and ten minutes drive to the park offices for briefing before u start gorilla tracking

Today you go to track the rare mountain gorillas. After a briefing from your ranger guide, begin tracking the mountain gorillas through the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The gorilla tracking can take a couple of hours or a whole day depending on the location where they left the gorillas the previous day. NB don’t forget to carry your packed lunches and drinking water, Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest and discover their gorgeous natural habitat and the many species they share it with. Coming face to face with these Gorillas is the most amazing experience you can ever have! You will have a chance to take photos and enjoy the Gorillas from a close range observing adults feeding, groaning and resting as the youngsters play and move backward and forward in a pleasantly comical demonstration. After a well-earned trip to the gorillas, you will drive back to your lodge for an overnight.

Day 3: Driving back to Kampala/Entebbe

After breakfast, drive (8-9 hours) back to Kampala/Entebbe with a stopover for lunch en-route and the equator if you happened to miss it on your first day of your trip. At this point, there are two cement circles marking the equator line and it is worth stopping if you are traveling to Masaka or Kampala for a photo moment. Also, watch a demonstration by the site guide on how water swirls in opposite directions in the northern & southern hemispheres at the equator line. Another reason that makes the equator worthwhile stop are the great shopping bargains. The point has got several craft shops and art galleries run by individuals and organizations. These craft stalls sell souvenirs and handmade products while some with marks talking about the Equator. The driver/guide will drop you at your accommodation either in Kampala or Entebbe as you may wish.
